2015 Year in Review

Instead of my normal monthly report, being the end of the year, I thought I'd round of the month with a year in review. I feel this journaling process is an essential part of creating a productive lifestyle as it allows us to celebrate our successes and identify any challenges so we can prioritise the right tasks in the future.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

2015 marks the year I started my side-business. It has been a challenging, exciting and productive year full of ups and downs. In February, I launched my email course, the 7-Day Productivity Plan. Since then, over 2,560 people have completed the email course. That's 2,560 people I've been able to help (even if it's only in a small way) this year. That alone makes me extremely happy and being able to help this many people to get more done is definitely time well spent. Of course since the email course is automated, it's an even better use of time because once it's set up I can sit back and only need to respond to the personal emails I receive from people.

In March, I married my high school girlfriend of 7 years. I'm so grateful we were able to share the day with so many friends and family (many of whom travelled a considerable distance to be there). It was an amazing day and I really couldn't have asked for more.

On the 25th of April, I made my first online sale. This was significant as this was the point when I realised it was possible to create something and sell it to someone, somewhere in the world without having to make or ship a physical product. In 2015 my goal of creating a passive income became more than just a dream, it has started to become a concrete reality.

In August of 2015, I left my job of 3 years at Mighty Ape. This was a bittersweet moment – I was sad to leave, but excited to be moving on to a new company and new team where I've learned a tonne.

In October, I launched my first major product, the Personal Productivity Toolkit. It's been well received and the feedback has been extremely positive. It's been amazing talking to customers like Anthony Abbott who have made major changes in their lives after learning more about productivity. It's the stories like this that bring my so much happiness and make the hard work worth it.

WHAT NEXT?

In 2016 my motto is going to be to focus more on less. I'm just finished reading Essentialism (book summary and PDF) and it stresses the importance of “ignoring the trivial many so that you can focus on the essential few”. This is something I'd really like to live by in 2016 so that I can do better work on the few things that really matter.

I'm currently planning my 2016 content calendar in Asana and am really excited to dive into some new topics in 2016. I'll be themeing each month and the content for that month will focus on one particular topic. This is going to be a nice way of deep diving into some specific topics within the productivity space.
