Learn more about my home office, co-working space and favourite gear that I carry on a daily basis.
When designing my home office, I tried to make it as easy as possible to get my work done. Whether I'm recording for the podcast or a screencast for YouTube, I can be ready to record in a matter of moments. This is what I can “reducing friction“. By eliminating obstacles that stand between you and your work, you can increase your efficiency and output. Want to learn more? Subscribe to my podcast and YouTube channel. Podcast & Video Recording
My podcast and video recording set up is pretty simple and you don't have to spend a fortune to really lift the quality of your content.
This is my podcast mic. It's a Neewer NW-700 condenser microphone. It's a pretty affordable mic from Amazon that I use for when recording videos and making my podcast.
My microphone plugs into this sound mixer which provides phantom power and allows me to adjust in the levels when recording.
I spend a huge portion of the day on client calls or making content. These noise-cancelling headphones from Bose are super comfortable and produce great sound quality.
While I could easily work entirely from home, I'd start to go crazy a few days. I'm more productive working from the BizDojo co-working space in Takapuna, Auckland. It's about 100m from the beach which makes for great walks when I take a lunch break. And because I start my day early to work with US and Canadian clients, I get to enjoy some beautiful sunrises over the Hauraki Gulf and Rangitoto Island. I spend about 80% of my time at BizDojo and work from home either if I don't feel like going in or if I need to record for the podcast or videos.
When I'm out and about, I take my Bellroy Card Sleeve (1) which is great for carrying just the essentials. I have a Tile Slim (2) and Tile Sport (7) so I can find my wallet and keys if I lose them. I don't give out a lot of business cards, but when I do, I give out a Luxe Moo card (3) which are guaranteed to get a compliment. I have a 2nd generation Apple Watch with the Nomad Traditional Leather Strap (4). I particularly like using the Apple Watch for activity and sleep tracking. I also carry a B-2 Nano Blade (5) just in case. To me, the Apple Airpods (6) are the definition of convenience. My Raybans (8) pretty much go everywhere with me and as you might expect, I use the iPhone XS (9).
I really love this bag. It's the perfect size for travelling between home and the co-working space where I work. I really appreciate the attention to detail that Bellroy puts into its products.
