How to customise projects in Asana [VIDEO]

One of the great things about Asana is that you can customise each project with different fields, rules, forms and task templates to make a project more fit for purpose and the work you need to manage.

For example, maybe you have an ‘Accounting' project that requires certain fields or rules to help you manage payments. Or maybe you need to estimate hours and track task status for another project.

In this video, I talk through all the options you can use to customise individual projects in Asana. When you customise a project template, all the customisation settings will copy over to any new project you create from the template.

  • Fields – Great for adding extra columns of information or fields to a task e.g. time tracking, status, priority. Show examples from demo account.
  • Rules – Used for automating the flow of tasks e.g. when a task field changes, move section. • Apps – This is where you can connect apps to Asana. e.g. Vimeo, Zoom.
  • Forms – Used to submit tasks into a project e.g. customer feedback, bug reports, requests.
  • Task Templates – Used to create templates of tasks so you don't have to start from scratch e.g. blog posts, checklists etc.
