Going Wallet-less

I used to cringe at the sight of iPhone cases that had card holders designed into them. In my opinion these cases added unnecessary bulk to the iPhone and detracted from it's near perfect design.

I then got given a Wombat Smart Wallet. It's not an iPhone case, but a rubberised pouch that you stick to the back of your smartphone using its 3M adhesive surface. Seeing as I was given it and I wasn't having to fork out for an entire case that I may not use, I decided to give it a shot; wow did it prove my previous thoughts wrong.

I put my credit card and drivers license into the pocket and decided to start leaving my wallet at home. I wanted to see if the new Smart Wallet really could replace a real wallet. Since beginning this experiment I haven't taken my original wallet out once and I've fallen in love with the Smart Wallet. When I leave the house, I can grab my keys and iPhone and I'm gone. I never thought of my original wallet as a burden until now. But the Smart Wallet lets me travel very minimally and I'm loving it.

On one occasion I found myself without my FlyBuys card and that was slightly annoying, but not enough to warrant the switch back to my old ways. Using the Smart Wallet just means I have to think ahead and work out if I need any extra cards. For example, before going to the movies, I had to remember to take my Student VIP card. No biggie, but something to consider.

Seeing as I don't carry cash, the Smart Wallet is an ideal fit with my lifestyle and doesn't even add significant bulk to my iPhone. You actually feel really cool whipping your card out from your phone when paying for stuff.

It's interesting to think how quickly your previous opinions can be proven wrong. I will be careful in the future to not knock new ideas before trying them. And if you've ever considered going wallet-less, I would highly recommend it.
