In this Periscope stream I talk about the power of positive thinking! Be sure to follow me on Periscope where I stream live and talk about productivity tips and tricks. I'd love to have you on a stream, so follow me, I'm @paulminors.

Discussion points

  • Negative people tend to be lazy. It's easy to sit there and moan and do nothing.
  • Being positive takes work. You have to work to get what you want.
  • What's the point in being negative?
  • How you choose to spend your time is the most important decision you need to make in life, so why waste it by being negative?
  • In the Obstacle is the Way (book summary), author Ryan Holiday talks about turning obstacles (things we think are bad) and turning them into an advantage e.g. an opportunity to practice patience.
  • Negativity is all in your head. How you choose to perceive things is up to you…
  • In the Magic of Thinking Big (book summary), author David Schwartz talks about how you need to cure yourself of excusitis. Likewise he talks about using the failures in your life as stepping stones to success.
  • Be weary of negative people. Often people who are negative want to bring other people down with them. You are the average of the 5 people you surround yourself with.
  • If you have a problem, ask if you can you do anything about it? Either way, don't worry.

Action points

  • Learn from the bad things that happen to you.
  • Use these things as an opportunity to learn and grow.
  • Practice being more objective. Remember that how you choose to view a situation is up to you.
  • Stop making excuses.
  • Avoid negative people.

“See things for what they are.
Do what we can.
Endure and bear what we must.

What blocked the path now is a path.
What once impeded action advances action.
The Obstacle is the Way.”
